New Laws & Regulations for Business Owners in 2024

Significant laws affecting certain businesses came into effect at the start of 2024.

At the start of 2024, several new laws and regulations affecting businesses came into effect. Among the most impactful changes are the Data Broker Registration Laws and California's Delete Act, which impact data privacy and consumer rights. The Data Broker Registration Laws require companies that act as data brokers to register with the state they do business in. California's Delete Act requires data brokers to implement mechanisms that allow consumers to request the deletion of their personal information. Additionally, there are increased documentation and reporting requirements for small business loans, aimed at identifying potential discrimination in lending practices. The National Labor Relations Board's Joint-Employer Rule also came into effect, expanding liability for unfair labor practices.
